Hello from Florida! I'm hoping to visit Nome,maybe even for a long stay, one of these days...and I never even heard of that movie until I read these comments!

Maybe some Nome current or former inhabitant can tell me if there is any agriculture there? Do people raise livestock? Or is all food imported? I know there's a lot of fishing...

Hello everyone, this is a very interesting site. I have family in Nome! I am studing the Iditarod and thought it would be cool to come to this website. I thought you had a cam of where the Iditarod sign wa but not anymore! If you could get me some info on it and our class musher, who isnt doing to good is Kristy Berington! Please get me some information if posible. I know she is in the middle of running the Iditarod but just maybe you can contact her later and get me some info! Thank you~

I miss Nome. I grew up there from 1982-1993.
I want to go back and see how it is now compared to my memory.

Very Interesting site. I have always wanted to come to Alaska - would love to be there to see the race, but I watch the iditarod pretty closely on my computer here in the midwest. Hey this winter, it's been colder most of the time here, than up there ??? Couldn't figure that one out, but it's finally warming up here and I see it is about -3 up there today. Whew, good for the dog race - but glad it's finally gettin warmer here. ONE DAY, I do hopt to travel to Alaska. What a beautiful state - with facinating traditions, friendly people - and those incredible dogs !!!!! I wish all the Mushers the very best - and have a safe trip!!! The are not even half way to Nome this yr - 3/9/2010. Bye for now !!!

Front street has no more businesses . Used to have North star Sea view room, nice place to dine with a date if you had one, I'm glad Glue Pot is gone. NC , U.S Merc, Cavota's, M'Lord and Lady, Dorothy's and Nome Drug Store, Polet's, Morgan's, Nome Hardware, Insurance CO., Music Mart. Bakery, Hagen's Jewelry store, Pool hall used to be where the Museum is, all gone. But the Xmas lights are still there. I miss my home and the DARN ALIENS.

i enjoyed the site and am very interested in all the arctic especially the stories that i have read...i have numerous books about exploration in arctic and antarctic............hope to visit someday

I am interested in possibly coming to Nome on a contract to work at a hospital there. Can somebody give me the name of the hospital?

The Nome Visitor's Center has provided me with the best information and assistance in locating a place to stay, while I am Volunteering with the 2010 Iditarod Sled Dog Race.
Mike and his staff were extremely dilligent in providing Lodging availability and Nome information.
